Not Religion!

Its not about Religion at all.  God  is waiting for a personal relationship with you!  Religion is not what anyone has ever needed, nor has religion ever gotten anyone into heaven.  Going to church, or following “churchy” rituals and living piously hasn’t gotten anyone any closer to God.  You may even have never really liked “churchy” people anyway and that’s the reason why you’ve never wanted anything to do with religion.  Well, we have good news for you!

God is not just sitting up in heaven hoping you find religion; on the contrary, God is waiting on you to find Him to begin an amazing relationship with Him.   You may be thinking to yourself, that the life you’ve lived hasn’t been all that bad and you don’t really need God though.  So ask yourself this question:

What will you say when you come to the end, standing before a righteous and holy God and He asks you why He should let you into heaven?  Will your answer be “I’m a good person?”  So you’re a good person.  Did you answer based on your standards or Gods?  Do you think you’ve kept the 10 commandments?  You may be thinking “yes, I mean, I’m not perfect; but, I’ve never killed anybody.”

Lets look a little closer.  Have you ever told a lie?  Yes, well who hasn’t right?  So, what does that make you?  Be honest here, if you had murdered someone that would make you a murderer right?  So, if you’ve lied before what does that make you?  Have you ever stolen anything, even if its something small?  So what does that make you?  Have you ever looked at another person in a lustful manner?  God said if you look at a person lustfully then you’ve already committed adultery with that person in your heart.  Have you ever done that?  Guilty?

That’s only 3 of the 10 commandments.  You might still be thinking that you aren’t that bad; however, unless you are perfect according to God’s standards, then you are a sinner.  So, if God judges you by those standards, do you honestly think you’re going to be innocent or guilty? 

That’s the point.  We have all violated God’s law.  In other words, we have all sinned.  No, we are not perfect; but, God is perfect and holy.  God’s perfect nature demands justice, and sin demands death.  The penalty for our sin is to be separated from God and cast into Hell for ever.

The good news is that God does love us!  He loves you!  God made a way for you to be with Him in heaven for ever.  God loves you so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus from heaven to earth to pay your penalty for you.  Jesus took your punishment when He died on the cross.  And He defeated death and Hell when God raised Him from the dead.  God did that so you would not have to go to hell.  That's how much He loves you.   But God will not force himself upon you.  You still have a choice.  You can choose to accept God’s free gift of eternal life with Him or you can reject it and Him. Ignoring God, or choosing not to decide is still the same as rejecting Him.

You don't have to do anything religious.  All you have to do is accept God’s free gift.   How?  God said that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, that you will be saved.  God is asking you right now, to place your faith in Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of your sins.  Jesus Christ said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”  Cry out to Jesus!  Admit to Jesus your sin, turn away from your sin by giving up your old ways, committing every part of your life to Jesus, and ask Him to forgive you.  Jesus is faithful and will forgive you for all of the mistakes and sins in your past.

In return for this decision, you receive the promise of heaven. You don't have to be afraid of death, because you now are guaranteed eternity with God himself. You are also promised peace, help, and hope as you walk through life. And, you are guaranteed that God will always be right there with you.
