Charlie's Bio - Rythm GuitarHi, my name is Charlie. I have been playing guitar and writing songs since I was 16 years old and started playing professionally at the age of 19. That is until I gave my life to the Lord and devoted my talents to God. Since then the Lord has blessed me to be able to share the love of Christ through music in 49 states, and over 10 different countries.
I have never felt more in the center of God's will then when I am playing my guitar and singing praises to the King, all while drawing the lost back home.
This is the story of how my life was changed after an encounter with God.
I grew up in a home where my parents believed in God and taught me about God. We even went to Church on occasion. We were taught to be good people, and that you must believe in Jesus in order to go to Heaven. So, at the ripe old age of nine, I walked down the aisle at church and asked to be baptized so that I could go to Heaven when I died.
I never really questioned the existence of God or the truth of the message. Although I was often frustrated at how pointless it all seemed. I would always wonder if there wasn’t more to it, that I had somehow just never understood. Are you just supposed to say a prayer so that you can go to Heaven, and then continue living the rest of your life? Does it only mean something once you die?
Since I was never brave enough to actually ask those questions, I never got an answer. So, I just lived my life.
By the time I graduated Highschool, I had gone a long way away from God. Once I entered my second year of college I started praying for several nights in a row to God. I would tell Him how I wanted to “get right” with Him, and how I wanted to start going to Church again. I also remember feeling very clearly that God was OK with that proposition with only one condition. I could not have God and the lifestyle that I was leading at the same time. Unfortunately that was pretty much a deal breaker for me at the time. I just couldn’t be asked to give that up. After several nights of this I got so depressed that I didn’t care anymore. I prayed, “God, I don’t want to live like this anymore.” “I don’t care what you want.” “If you can use my life then take me and change me, otherwise just kill me now.
Well, to my amazement God unleashed the floodgates, so to speak. I woke up the next morning a completely changed individual. I knew that I could not do this half way. If I was going to be a Christian then I was going to have to do it 100 percent.
Well, suffice it to say that from that night my life has never been the same. I won't lie to you. At times it has been a rocky road. Though I have fallen my fair share of times, God has always been there to pick me up.
You see, my questions as a child were right. The point of salvation was not just for when you die. The point of salvation is for life, right now! I only truly started to live once I had given my life up to God! Now, God has made me into a new creation and I will never go back again!
